GIG5105 Critical Issues in Education

This course provides the students with current problems and probable solutions of the issues in education related to gaps between the 21st century learning needs and current students’ learning contexts, teacher recruitment, inclusive education,  education during and post Covid-19 pandemic,  teachers’ creativities in using current technologies and media as innovative solutions to overcome teachers’ and students’ problems, the current curricula in Indonesia: Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTs), MBKM program in Indonesian education, school climate: bullying at schools, EMI policy in Indonesia, teachers’ CPD, school leadership/management, national and international education journals, and teacher education in Indonesia.


GIN6115 Analisis Wacana dan Pragmatik

Mata kuliah ini termasuk dalam kelompok Mata Kuliah Bidang Keahlian dan Penunjang. Mata kuliah ini mempelajari berbagai bentuk dan jenis wacana, baik lisan maupun tertulis yang meliputi hakikat wacana, teks, koteks, dan konteks, struktur wacana (tema, topik, judul), jenis wacana, teknik-teknik telaah wacana; kohesi, koherensi, dan kelengkapan wacana; hakikat paragraf, dan tipe-tipe struktur paragraf; pemarkah kohesi dan koherensi; pragmatic sbg kajian bahasa, aspek-aspek kajian pragmatic (tindak tutur, praanggapan, implikatur), sereta kajian kritis dalam analisis wacana dan pragmatic. Kegiatan pembelajaran berupa perkuliahan tatap muka dan pemberian tugas terstruktur baik individu maupun kelompok. Penilaian dilakukan melalui pemberian tugas, ujian tengah semester, dan ujian akhir semester. Luaran mata kuliah ini berupa makalah hasil kajian wacana dan pragmatic.

GIP5101 FILSAFAT ILMU (PENDIDIKAN BAHASA)

Matakuliah ini merupakan matakuliah dasar keilmuan yang memberikan bekal awal kepada mahasiswa tentang filsafat ilmu. Matakuliah ini membahas topik-topik filsafat dan pemikiran filsafat, filsafat ilmu yang meliputi ontologi, epistemologi, dan aksiologi. Disamping itu dibahas pula sarana pengembangan ilmu serta hubungan antara ilmu, moral serta agama, juga hubungan antara perkembangan ilmu dan perkembangan kebudayaan, serta penerapan metode ilmiah dalam kegiatan penelitian ilmiah. Penilaian didasarkan pada kualitas makalah dan kemampuan presentasi, hasil ujian tengah semester, dan hasil ujian akhir semester. Luaran yang diperoleh berupa kumpulan makalah presentasi yang sudah direvisi.


GIG5104 TEACHING MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT

This course discusses the principles, procedures, criteria, selection, development models of teaching materials in language and literature learning. In addition to conceptual mastery, students are also expected to practice applying these concepts so that a product of teaching materials is realised. To increase knowledge, students are also required to evaluate teaching materials that have existed so far. To achieve understanding, reading activities and analysing teaching materials  carried out in the form of discussion forum , presentations, and workshops that are applied in discovery learning, problem-based learning/case method, collaborative learning, and team-based learning/project-based learning models. During the learning process, evaluation is in the form of giving quizzes, making presentation slides, writing papers, finding gaps between the latest teaching materials and concepts, theories, and procedures, and writing teaching materials. This course is expected to produce conceptual/research-based papers and teaching materials as learning products.


GIN5104 Pengembangan Materi Ajar

Jadwal Matakuliah ini membahas prinsip-prinsip, prosedur, kriteria, pemilihan, model pengembangan bahan ajar dalam pembelajaran bahasa dan sastra. Selain penguasaan konseptual, mahasiswa juga diharapkan dapat berlatih mengaplikasikan konsep-konsep tersebut sehingga terwujud sebuah produk bahan ajar. Untuk menambah wawasan pengetahuan mahasiswa juga dituntut melakukan evaluasi bahan ajar yang telah ada selama ini.

GIG6115 Discourse Analysis and Pragmatics

This course provides an introduction to some of the major theories, principles, and research findings of pragmatics and discourse analysis. This course discusses linguistics and culture, language and discourse analysis, discourse community and speech community, cooperative principle, discourse grammar, corpus approaches to discourse analysis, speech acts and critical discourse analysis, pedagogic perspectives of pragmatics and discourse analysis. It also provides a brief discussion on language teachers in relation to pragmatics and discourse analysis and ways to do research on the two-in-one course subject.  Upon the completion of the course, the students are expected to (a) have a solid understanding of pragmatics and discourse analysis, and (b) be able to do pragmatic and discourse analyses.

GIP5101 Philosophy of Science

This course discusses the basic concepts of philosophy in general and general philosopy of science in particular, which include understanding, inductivism, falsificationism, rationality, underdetermination, explanation and inference. Upon the completion of the course, the students are expected to (a) have a solid understanding of general philosopy of science, and (b) be able to analyze the philosophical and foundational problems that arise within science.
